ELI5: The effect of ADHD medication (Ritalin) on those who use it, but haven't been diagnosed with it.

I used/ abused adderal for many years thinking it was a drug that helped me "be superman". Eventually I saw a doctor and explained i had "dabbled" with it and how positive effects become of it. (I was 25 at the time, never used anything in high school). I was prescribed and for once, I legally had something that was beneficial for me. It kept me motivated, confident, focused... the list goes on. Now I use exactly as prescribed with a little variance here and there (which my doctor approves, if I need a little more one day I'll use it, and then on days I don't need I cut back or don't use. It all balances out). It's been a life changer. I have so many tasks and projects I easily feel overwhelmed and losing control and this tiny amount of amphetamine salts gives me the confidence to move foreward. Even if a lot of it IS my own natural drive and motivation, it certainly helps. Talk to your doctor and be honest.

TL;DRI started using it as a "high" but realized it's a game changer for someone never diagnosed but could def have used it earlier in life. Talked to doctor and now have a safe plan in place for usage.
