An electric guitar is no different than any other instrument. You need to learn a fair amount of theory and then practice, practice, practice till your fingers bleed. Sometimes literally.

Josh is obviously too dumb and lazy to learn theory. Proper notation is far beyond his capabilities. He has to rely on free tabs, which are basically a notation system that tells you where to press and which string to hit. It’s super easy, but it’s nowhere close to the precision of proper music notation. Also, most tabs available for free online are done by amateurs and are of dubious quality.

A guitar also needs to be maintained and stringed properly. Josh doesn’t seem to understand that. You can get a super cheap electronic tuner, but the dumb fuck doesn’t seem to care that his instrument is completely out of tune.

Now, playing guitar, like every other instrument, requires a fair amount of natural talent. Some people just aren’t made for music. Josh is honestly completely deaf. He has zero talent. A good teacher could maybe get him to a level where he can play basic pieces of music, but he’s never gonna be a pro. It’s like a blind person becoming a painter or a midget a basketball player. Sometimes you just don’t have what it takes. That’s just life. Josh of course doesn’t think he needs a teacher.

I also think he doesn’t quite have the hand dexterity to play guitar. You need fast, precise fingers. A sense of rhythm and tempo. You have play notes as precise moments. Not half a second sooner or too late. It fucks up the song completely. You need an alert mind. Josh is too slow, both mentally and physically. It’s only getting worse.
