ELI5 inland port

Mariella Mendoza, the self-proclaimed anarchist, is just someone who is angry about everything. Note: don't say she, because they go by they and them.

They are crazy. I also find it interesting that they bring up settler colonialism, a distinct type of colonialism that functions through the replacement of indigenous populations with an invasive settler society that, over time, develops a distinctive identity and sovereignty, when they themselves are an undocumented immigrant. What's annoying me though, besides the anarchist bit, is that they are taking the protest of the port, and trying to link it to all these other things. I feel like every message they are trying to convey, has now been lost in this mess.

Are there issues with mistreatment of immigrants, climate change, past treatment of indigenous people, and police brutality? Absolutely. Is the port something to protest? Sure.

But I am really struggling to understand how they are all connected in the real world.

I for one, would be really upset if I had gone to this protest with the goal of being vocal about the port- and instead had the message that Mariella has now put out over it. Instead of protesting the port, the protest is now portrayed as their anger regarding "the system". The message, regarding the port, was largely lost - and I see that as problematic.

Also, their name was Tyler Durden.
