ELI5: Why do so many countries around the world seem to dislike the US?

This is my opinion as a Canadian.

There's more I like about the USA than dislike. But the things I dislike, I strongly dislike.

I feel that the USA doesn't want to have other countries come into their own. Whether it's other countries' news, people, culture, etc. The USA just doesn't seem to want to expand its knowledge of anything. It feels itself to be the superior country.

More of our news is American than our own. We know more about the USA than they know about us or even themselves.

As our neighbour, they cause us problems at the border and make more work for us here. Especially with mail.

Generally the country seems to refuse to grow and mature into the 21st century, and I imagine the rest of the first-world countries see the USA as a stubborn, spoiled brat. At least that's how I do. I know there are more good than ignorant people in that country, but damn are the ignorant ones louder.

I imagine part of the problem is that a number of Americans truly believe the USA is the best country and is superior, which it simply isn't true. Then their media makes that worse, and it's their media the rest of us see.

I know most Americans are good people and want good change. But your media is like Jerry Springer, and that's what the rest of us see.
