Thanks for the reply. First, I'm not exactly sure why your response is a graph showing income inequality. While inequality is obviously a concern of mine (and the global upwards trend should concern everyone imo), I'm not a single issue voter. Second, I'm afraid to say your graph is horribly incorrect because it shows the inequality before taxes and transfers. In other words, you are showing income distribution before the government even enters the picture. This neither reflects the actual level of income inequality in Sweden which, as literally anyone could tell you, is much lower than Canada, nor does it relate in any way to the government policies which affect it. But don't take my word, allow Stephen Gordon to explain. In fact Gordon's post here completely contradicts your point. He observes that while market income inequality is largely uniform, many countries have been highly successful compressing their income distribution through transfers. This is why Sweden achieves a much more compressed income distribution than Canada. The reality is that we are somewhere between the U.S. and Sweden - just as common sense would suggest.

Inequality aside, Sweden has double our rate of unionisation, cheaper education, public spending over 50% of GDP, higher taxes (with a focus on consumption tax), and uses proportional representation. I hope I don't need to tell you which party in Canada supports these sort of policies. Additionally, you mentioned elsewhere that perhaps the Liberal party seeks to emulate Denmark, which I found truly bizarre as they have very similar policies to Sweden.

Finally, I posed a question to you in good faith which you have yet to answer. I offered up my own beliefs only to make the point that it doesn't matter so much who the leader of the party is, or how obnoxious their supporters are. What matters is your beliefs. So, what do you actually stand for? What are your politics?
