Elizabeth Warren introduces sweeping gun safety bill with licensing, universal background checks and an assault-weapons ban

Fuckin' A, I said this the other day and got downvoted to oblivion. An adjustable shoulder stock doesn't make it deadlier. Look at what makes it an effective force multiplier. There is no need to charge the weapon between shots, it can be very quickly reloaded, and standard capacity is 20-30 rounds.

Ban any new semi-auto with a detachable magazine that holds over 10 rounds, require retro-fitting to a fixed limited capacity magazine and/or disabling the gas system to create a single-action weapon out of the existing AR-pattern firearms.

This would require a pull of the charging handle between shots, and separating the upper and lower receiver to reload the magazine.

Lever actions, pump shotguns, revolvers... those are more than adequate for self defense. As for the idea that the Second Amendment is a check against tyranny, insurrections have been won with less, and I'd say all of those options have about as good a chance against armored cav and drones as a SCAR 17S does.
