Elon: “10.1 rolls out a week from Friday with beta request button.”

. They just want what they feel they deserve regardless of the potential outcome of rushing an unpolished beta out to cure some FOMO or customers something to flex.

They want what they were told they would receive from Tesla.

Tesla didn't say they were going to have a bug-prone, dangerous self driving beta in 2021. In 2016, Elon described FSD as a "solved problem" and sold FSD based on that. That same year Elon said that they could do one button, coast to coast driving by the end of 2017, and Tesla sold FSD to customers as a result. Last year Elon claimed that robotaxis would be in service by the end of the year, and Tesla sold FSD to customers based on that.

I could keep going, but there are dozens and dozens of instances of Elon making specific claims about capabilities and timelines.

I think it's ludicrous to blame customers who made a purchase decision based on explicit claims made by the CEO, and want to use the thing they purchased.

People want to press a button and have a car drive them, because they paid for it and because the company said they'd be able to do it. The fact that Tesla can't provide the product they sold and explicitly said they would be able to provide is 100% Tesla's fault.
