Elon Musk calls out Wired

they're just rationally understanding his statements. Which is that he doesn't like public transport because its icky and being with the plebs.

This is just such a loaded statement. Commenting that public transit is less convenient and crowds are uncomfortable for people is so benign it's not even controversial.

Definitely the fact that it's being invoked in a dialogue about an unproven pitch for innovation is worth seriously analyzing. But it's such a typical comment that it doesn't really mean more than it does

Honestly the worst part is people extrapolating from the serial killer joke as if it's serious. The hyberbole is meant to contextualize the entire statement as less than serious or a robust argument. Yet it's extrapolated to imply its a serious comment about public or mass transit safety. Its maybe not a good joke but if you want the simple facts then treat it like it is.
