Elon Musk got fake-news'd by 60 Minutes. They literally edited out half of his sentence to make him seem power mad and insane.

Possibly, but it would make more sense to stay public. There is a reason almost all big companies go public and stay public. What needs to happen is for the SEC to be neutered and earnings reported once a year instead of 4 times. Also less information should be required to be made public and startups should be given a grace period before they are required to post financial information and other sensitive data on user growth etc. With these changes you’d see more start ups go public sooner as way to finance themselves and attract and retain employees and regular joes could cash in during high growth periods of start ups. Think of all the money people could of made on UBER or AirBnB in the early days.
