Elon Musk Says Tesla Model 3 Will Cost $35,000 Before Incentives

This is a dream come true to me. I have always wanted a Tesla. I respect what the company does and the vehicle that it makes. I remember seeing the Tesla dealership thing in downtown Seattle when I went to visit a friend and I nearly shit myself. I didn't know how long it would be before I could own one due to the price and my credit score being kind of crappy (working on that though). This is at a price range where I could actually see myself truly owning one without having to turn to the black market and sell non-vital organs.

However, my biggest concern, is the infrastructure for electric cars in the Midwest US. I know they have been getting them along the coasts but what is the plan for those of us living in the heartland? What is the plan for the smaller cities or even rural areas? I doubt there is one probably because a lot of people out here wouldn't necessarily go electric.

Those of us who would love an electric vehicle would be stuck to just charging at home. This would work probably 90% of the time for most of us out here who don't live in the bigger midwest cities (hell, this would work for them to).

But there is a pretty big caveat; people who live in smaller cities that are near larger ones, tend to go to those cities for stuff. I live in between Omaha, NE and Sioux Falls, SD. About 100 miles away. We don't always go, but I would say we end up going to Omaha about every two months. Sometimes more often. It's a bigger city so there is more to do there. More places to shop. Better entertainment and restaurants. Something people do for a weekend getaway or if they need to fly out of a bigger airport for cheaper tickets/more direct routes.

Right there, it would be a 200 mile round trip. That isn't including the time spent driving in town.

I know they have been rolling out those super fast charger things along the East and West coast. So it would be feasible for people in these areas to use this car. But those of us who live in the Midwest don't have that infrastructure safetynet. We would only really be able to charge at home. Which might be fine for a majority of the time but those of us who live in smaller citie like to go to our neighboring big cities to do shopping, fun stuff, sight-seeing or to use the airport. It's 100 miles to Omaha and to Sioux Falls from where I live. So that is a 200 round trip. What about the driving I would be doing in town?

If i lived on the coast I feel a little safer with it but living in the NE-IA-SD area, there really isn't much here in terms of electric charging.

I know I can get an electric charger for my own home (even though I live in my
