Elon Musk takes issue with ‘misleading edit’ of Tesla interview on 60 Minutes, here’s what was really said

That's complete nonsense. Any respectable journalist doing an interview isn't going to try and deliberately change the meaning of the responses.

Maybe if you can't fit it all in, losing a little clarity or subtly is fine. But cutting out key bits of info from the middle of a response, and hiding the fact that you did it? The goal there is to distort plain and simple.

I doubt very many people would go on 60 minutes if they actually said they were going to do what, you claim, is obvious. Cutting up people's answers to form some narrative that's not necessarily accurate or may even be contradictory to the original meaning isn't journalism.

It would be very interesting to see if anyone from the show agrees with you, or if you can find any quote where they say it's fine (and expected) that they blatantly change the meaning of guests' responses in interviews.
