It was embarrassing to have Shake be a representative of desi men.

It wasn't even just 1971. America has consistently been anti India until very recently (Trump administration). Even Biden is pretty much basically leaning away from India again. And no, the divide between India and America is still enormous. It will take an immense about of effort for America to overcome the treatment it imposed on India in the past. India has very little to gain with an American alliance besides being a tool for their interests and antagonizing China. Maybe if America sweetens the pot an extreme amount and shares weaponry tech.

I'm sorry but it's clear you don't follow foreign policy or geopolitics until very recently likely due to the Ukraine conflict. I don't even know what point you are trying to make with Ukraine or where I said that? Regarding NATO, Ukraine has always been desperate to join, but America and other western members have always been reluctant to let them in. There are multiple reasons Russia wants control of Ukraine and yes, preventing the it's alignment with the West is one of them. Estonia and Lithuania were also former satellite states that joined NATO recently. However, Ukraine is by far the most important to Russia.
