I have to get blood drawn pretty regularly. And because I have ‘difficult veins,’ that usually means about four or five attempts with the needle digging around under the skin. Sometimes they just can’t find a vein and I have to drive to a different clinic with a more experienced phlebotomist for a half dozen more attempts.

Point is, I’ve never been even remotely close to fainting or vomiting during any of that. It’s not like donating blood where they take whole bags. It’s tiny vials - a fraction of the blood in your body. There’s no physiological reason you’d faint or vomit.

People say to look away, but I enjoy watching. It’s interesting. The pain is really mild compared to, say, a leg cramp, or stubbing your toe.

It’s just one of those things you get used to. I don’t even think about it these days. You’ll be totally fine.
