‘Encanto’s’ ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ Is Topping the Charts. So Why Didn’t Disney Submit It for Oscars?

Yeah the little "musical overlap" section at the end in particular is great because it kinda shows the tension is building with everyone being focused on their own stuff while Mirabel is trying to patch things up. The entire song people are kinda "out of sync" on what they subjectively experience: you've got the contrast of Pepa and Felix not quite agreeing on the severity of what Bruno did, Camilo who largely only knows Bruno through the warped version that he was told about as a kid, Dolores who empathizes a little more and seems to know that he's still around, and Isabela who is so wrapped up in her own thing that she makes it about herself and drops even talking about him after a few lines.

It's like a musical representation of them all not quite being on the same page.
