I have! And it was alcohol withdrawals. It wasn’t even like a life long addiction thing either.
Depressive episode after my closest friend died led me to drinking a fifth of Jack a day for 3 weeks. Then tried to stop when my PTO ended. After not drinking for a few hours, I couldn’t even sign a receipt because my tremors were so bad. I was shaking, high blood pressure, and rapid heart rate. Only more alcohol starved off the withdraws until it started again
When urgent care told me “you’re go to a hospital”, I hadn’t drank for a few hours, so I started having hallucinations and more withdraws.
In the ER, I thought those grippy parts of the socks they gave me were actually broken bones in my feet. So I ripped out my IVs and made a run for it. They gave me basic benzos and an IV.
An hour later the hallucinations got more reeeeeal. I saw them filming a Family Guy episode in the hallway. I can still vividly picture the peter griffin papier-mâché costume. The only thing that being obviously Family Guy is an animated TV show. But I legitimately saw Peter Griffin in the hall. I still can picture that image like it was yesterday. It was so real
Anyways somehow that devolved into me running around screaming rape as I dodge nurses in the ICU hallway. This is at 2am. So people are saying goodbye to family as they’re actively dying from old age or a traumatic car accident. Then here I am shouting rape at the top of my lungs running through the halls. One of the muscular male nurses stabbed me in my ass with ketamine. I woke up a few days later with a breathing tube down my throat, and another tube up my dick
Now for perspective, I’m extremely chill. Like I’ve never gotten in an actual fight in my life. I add exclamation points to work emails, I.e: “Thank you!”. Or every time I need something from somebody, preface it with “no rush, whenever you get the time”
It wasn’t some crazy street drug that did all that to me. It was literally binging on alcohol for a few weeks, then trying to and failing to cut back because of the physical symptoms
