(mixing name orders and not proof reading at all, but I got this spark of an idea for a yukari interpretation where she's basically still merry, but she lost her sense of humanity in a different way - rather than the usual monster stuff, she completely lost touch with the spiritual side of being a human being, with morals and kindness and such.)

(of course, such a loss does not have to also rid her heart of feeling and emotion, which can even open a path to describing something else quite important about yukari: her motivation for creating gensokyo)

(perhaps, it could even serve as a sort of sandbox for her ideas of "breeding" a more kind brand of youkai, one that can be compassionate, kind, and truly "humane," one that can internalize all the things that yukari truly felt at some earlier point in her life back when she was merry, but has now lost)
