I am not trying to be funny. I want to say that I think sex work can exist in many forms, but must also be socially acceptable, personally enjoyable, and for procreation. Otherwise it is merely a form of paid entertainment, and therefore totally outside of the essential process of social production. And mostly outside the purview of materialist and historical concerns.

But we can't say that sex and femininity and motherhood are definitely not outside of that realm. In so many words, female sex workers or, more convincingly, poor women in general can't act as a class for themselves until they reign in and socialize control of their own biological productive forces. There is not a "commodity" so precious or valuable as a baby. Nothing more essential. Maybe this means women are paid and housed and treated in the near-term by the state to have children, or that men and non-pregnant women must work to support women during pregnancy and postpartum. I think that intentionally procreative sex and healthy pregnancies should be incentivized and divorced from the paradigms and processes of male-dominated hierarchical capitalist society.

But sex work both illegal and legal at present have to be seen "as oppressions of sex and class. Women's sexuality and sexual energy is appropriated by the men who buy or control the sexual services exchange (i.e., pimps) just as any worker's energy is appropriated to the capitalists for their profits, leading to alienation of one's bodily capacities and very bodily being". Some workers do enjoy their work, but one's subjective enjoyment of a profession is mostly independent of the very material exploitation that occurs at all levels over time.

Sex workers and sexually active women generally have to act as a class for themselves rather than in a strictly individual sense for wages, thrills and social status. And however unintentionally it has arisen, male dominance and material control will not recede until then.
