Enforced monogamy will prevent "hordes of single men from violence"

I meant evolution, in general. A lot of "evolutionary psychology" is complete bullshit. However, as for mate selection, I don't see how it could be wrong here. Similar trends are observable in a lot of animals as well.

Therefore, if evolution is about the best possible outcomes, why wouldn’t men evolve to also be picky in choosing their life partner?

Because the cost of sperm is insignificant compared to the cost of a 9 month pregnancy, so men tend to accept almost any woman.

Then you have to look into why men - in particular -not getting sex is causing this issue and combat that. Combat societal views on the importance of sex (particularly in men). What you don’t do is demonise women for having a choice, and continue a narrative of “if a woman would just take one for the team”.

I agree with this, I just don't think it's a simple issue to resolve and I think society should continue to promote monogamy as the standard, while avoiding some of the issues prevalent in the 50s (assuming it's possible to have both). Granted, it still does promote it as standard, but it's trending away from that.
