Engagement ring types?

A really close friend of mine is looking for the same kind of band, often referred to as a marquise dot band I believe?

As another commenter said, jewelers would far and away prefer pictures. Also mentioned - do try on your favorite styles and different sized stones before you settle on something. It’s all about preference.

I started out just trying on different shapes - round, oval, with halo, without halo, white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, solitaire, pavé band, you get the picture. I spent about an hour just getting the feeling and the gist of the style, and decided I wanted something in the two carat neighborhood. My fiancé had given me a generous budget, so I was just going for my dream ring, not really being practical about finances.

I had now come to the conclusion I liked marquise, oval, more vintage looking designs. I was also set on a pavé band. Ended up finding my perfect ring by obsessively stalking ring designers online, and only at that point, did Moissanite enter the picture. My dream ring had a Moissanite center stone. I looked into Moissanite, watched YouTube videos for hours, scoured every first hand account from every board and forum, searched for Moissanite tags on Instagram, and finally, took a look at the stones.

I knew I wanted an Old European Cut, something that was evocative of a vintage ring, so I had no problem with the chunkier facets of an oval Forever One C&C Moissanite compared to a more “crushed ice” effect of a round Hearts and Arrows Forever One C&C Moissanite. I took a look at different Moissanites, talked to the designer Kristin Coffin, read her blog with amazing information, and decided to pull the trigger.

The end product is so specific to what I wanted. I ended up with a Moissanite, even though I could have ended up with a diamond, and couldn’t be happier. It’s simply beautiful, sparkles to high heaven, and is the size I dreamed of, in the setting I fell in love with. Very unique, and I only figured out what I liked by getting my boots on the ground. I would suggest going to a jeweler FOR SURE and just trying on different sizes and styles, not there to buy, but there to learn.

ALL THIS SAID! If you decide to just go for a rose gold marquise dot milgrain band with a diamond or Moissanite, I really don’t feel you could go wrong! But there’s no rush, so why not do the research :)

Good luck, whatever you pick will be absolutely gorgeous. Do pop over to visit us at r/justengaged and show it off!
