"Enough is enough": Confessions of a Twitch chat moderator.

While I do believe twitch chat sometimes goes too far, I'm gonna give my non-spammer/pro-spam opinion on this. Half the reason I watch twitch is because of the chat, but I honestly couldn't tell you why. I don't necessarily burst in laughter while reading it, but it's something about it that makes it feel like it's not just people online, but more like a bunch of people sitting in a room commentating on what's being watched, which is something that no other online community has achieved for me. About the TriHard spam whenever a black guy is on stream, at this point everyone that watches twitch regularly knows that it's not actually intended to harass them(or at least 99% of it isn't). I don't think a lot of the black people that stream on twitch would still do it if they felt like the community was being so vitriolic towards them. The problem comes when members from pro players' families watch twitch, be them whatever race, or maybe just people that wanna watch a hearthstone or league tournament for the first time. Let's be honest, at 50k+ viewers you're barely gonna be able to read any message, but you'll be able to glance at some of them. In tournaments, a very little ammount of viewers actually use twitch chat, and if you only look occasionally at it you're gonna think 'wow this is the most racist and hate mongering community ever'. There's not really any solution to this other than basically banning the usage of most of the emotes and phrases, but I don't believe that that is a good way to do it, you'd be taking away a large part of what makes twitch so great for a lot of people. Maybe the first time you watch twitch a message should pop up on the chat indicating that it's 18+ and you should only use it if you're not easily phased?
