Enough of narcissistic mums this, and evil dads that, Reddit, what are AWESOME stories involving your parents?

Our (my brother and I) mum left us when we where ~1&2, and Dad took over the looking after us and working (with the help of our grandparents when we where younger while Dad was at work).

23 years later we still live at home both of us just finishing University with good jobs lined up, we never got in too much trouble, great at money management, traveled, great relationship with both sides of the family and a great relationship to our Mum who lives ~90 minutes away.

I wouldn't change anything and believe Dad is the coolest, respectful person I've ever met, and also the most chill! Even though we didn't have loads growing up, we never suffered and always have been content.

Our Mum also is such a great person and we love her to bits and all see her regularly! She's since (repeatly) give us her reasons for leaving one we where old enough, although I don't fully agree with them, I know mum wouldn't ever be the happy, loving person she is today if she started and didn't travel with her life!
