Is entertainment the new „opium of the people“?

Putting gays in the films has had a noticeable improvement on my quality of life. The social acceptability of bigotry in the backwards shithole I live in (full of the ruthless working class cattle this place champions) has reduced somewhat in the past ten years.

I thought this was going to be about how coming home after a long day of wageslaving for corporation and watching network TV shows like This Is Us on the billboard in your living room has replaced any sense of community or whatever the fuck people used to do in their spare time and that widely available high speed internet has only made this worse by making media less siloed and more readily accessible. But I'm guessing this post has already been made by somebody smarter who can articulate it better.
