Entire Russian team of 387 athletes will be banned from competing at the Rio Olympics as punishment for their country’s state-sponsored doping programme

The average post-puberty guy sitting on his ass taking roids and growth hormone gains more muscle then the average guy using a smart training program.

Yeah but I feel that's literally just the body adjusting to the change in hormones and the amount of muscle mass those hormones allow the body to maintain without proper training and dieting. This growth isn't linear and will slow down significantly as the body nears the end of what those levels of hormones can support without training or diet. You see it a lot even in natural guys.

It's a real world occurence to have two men both considered healthy and normal but one has 3x the testosterone of the other and he'll obviously be at a significant advantage when it comes to how much muscle he has before even training and how quickly he'll build muscle through training and dieting. That is without even getting out of the normal ranges for testosterone and there are many people outside of the ranges both ways. In the study you're referencing they raised their testosterone to ~3000ng/dl give or take depending on the individuals response to the injections, which is 3x the top end of natural and 10x the lower end of natural. I don't see why it's so mind blowing that a guy that has 10x the testosterone of another will carry a lot more muscle regardless of training. Many natural untrained lifters don't have the genetics or knowledge/discipline to put on much muscle within their first few months of training so I mean this study seems kind of pointless in a way.
