Ephedrine as a nootropic?

Ephedrine increases the efficiency of your brain, plain and simple. Any disagreement with that statement is either political or ignorant of its mechanism of action.

I don't disagree with that at all.

I do disagree with your understanding of what "nootropic" means, and ephedrine's other effects. Nootropics, at least as discussed in this subreddit, are typically substances with minimal negative side effects relatively low risk of those side effects. There should be no serious concern using them daily.

Ephedrine can greatly reduce appetite, cause you to lose weight, and raise blood pressure and heart rate (like many other amphetamine-derived stimulants). Especially for people with existing conditions, daily use could be unwise. I would recommend consulting your doctor before deciding to use ephedrine daily.

You also both misunderstand my intentions. I regularly use stimulants to increase cognitive efficacy. I have no problem with that. But they're not nootropics. I think it's okay to discuss them here, but with a warning that they're not nootropics and should be taken with care.
