Episode 3 - Discussion

Knowing why I do what I do is really hard, because as it is expressed in the book and in the podcast, we are just giving a story how something happened and not really explaining why we did what we did. It sounds easier said than done, because sometimes we might be feeling that the purpose of what we did something are the small reasons why we chose something instead of something else but again we are not actually knowing what we decided to get that thing in the first place. Sometimes we take decisions basing on our consciousness, what we see or hear in first hand, but it would be more helpful to take out mind off the topic in order to make our subconscious process occur. Our subconscious takes also in consideration what we are not really aware of, therefore, it looks at a bigger picture compared to the consciousness. Our subconscious takes the information that we are not really paying attention to, for example while reading a book, out mind might seem to be fully immerse on what is happening on the book, but our subconscious is also considering our surrounding and its information. I found the idea of the Halo effect very interesting, how we can actually make a person seem more agreeable on the first time we met them and also dislike a person also on that first time meeting. It seems to me that we should actually not really based and have a big judgment on somebody only on a fist occasion. However, we find it difficult to change our minds about that person because we appear to have all the reasons to not like them. But we can actually change our attitude in future occasions while meeting new people. The subconscious seems to be better at solving problems compared to the conscious, would it be better to just relay more on the subconscious. It also seems more rational because requires a more elaborate subconscious thinking.
