Harmontown ruined dnd with a specific subgroup of my friends. I play regularly with a dedicated group, but after a few of my close buds watched Harmonquest and Harmontown, they wanted me to DM. Nobody learned their characters, remembered what gets rolled for what, what numbers to add, their skills/spells/abilities or the entire story line. They all wanted to get drunk and stoned and make jokes like the show! It didn’t last long.

That’s not how it should work. Some people in this thread demand spencer needs to “buck up” and just improv with everyone. And fine, let them drunkenly role play fantasy and spencer can roll for randomness. But don’t call it dnd, because from Spencer’s point of view, nothing will get accomplished, the show will be boring, and it’s just a complete “fuck you” to the idea of dnd in the first place.
