Episode Discussion: S02E10 - Switch

I don't think it's about caring enough to ruin their family. Nor was she aware that the detective kidnapped the grandma (wouldn't make any sense). The fact that there was a lead to the actual murder weapon in the home of a suspected contract killer is a much better story to the public and the higher ups than some random woman's blood being found in the detectives car. The city would have to spend more time, money, and deal with more legal issues if they decided to prosecute the grandma.

Additionally, the female detective sees potential in Taylor to become more than a normal cop - and based on her response - she enjoys working with him - hence the invitation to stop by her office whenever he's in the city. Now if she decided to prosecute his grandmother - what future would those two cops have together? None.
