Unfortunately this often behaviour seen behind closed doors instead of discussed openly.

I was with a girl for 5 years that I don’t think anyone would expect this stuff from her, but in the second half she would constantly yell over seemingly small things, she would occasionally shove me when we argued (and of course, it’s hard to process that and how to respond properly in the middle of a argument) and even once went so far to taunt me and ask me to hit her (which I refused). This is a girl who works with her student union and would be considered progressive.

Dumb me just didn’t want to be alone and I put up with it. I feel like I lost so much time and the prime of my life as a result.
