Ernie Johnson states on TNT that Shaquille O’Neal’s sister has passed away at the age of 40 from cancer.

My grandma was given benzos + opioids when she was dying to ease her anxiety and pain, once it was clear she was soon to pass and there was no coming back. It helped tremendously and she was very appreciative, was able to actually relax, and cherish/spend the final moments being present with family surrounding her, rather than focused/distracted by the stress, anxiety, and pain of death. She actually smiled, looked around at everyone, tried to speak a bit (unintelligible unfortunately), and finally relaxed to fall into the abyss.

She was comfortable though, whereas minutes prior before the nurse administered such, she was tortured, hurting, and scared. It was hard to see, and nobody should go out like that. I have the utmost respect for hospice nurses and what they do - and despite the many issues with addiction broadly, I am convinced that they are a perfect cocktail to appease suffering in death.
