Thanks, op. Picked it up this morning and am a few stages into the first area. As others have said it's simple, but fun. From what I've played so far, this game is great for players like me that grew up on NES/SNES.
Beginner's thoughts...
After looping through the first few stages a few times, I already have enough money to buy the strongest sword in the shop. Hopefully more weapons will be available later?
There's a jarring thing with music: it loops, but a few seconds later than it feels like it should. ie, the music "winds down" and acts like it's ending to start cleanly again, but then keeps going for a few seconds so there's a hard/audible cut when it starts over instead. Obviously not game-breaking in any sense, but it's weird.
It doesn't seem like the head animates much, so it wouldn't require additional animation frames, but the option to choose your hero's head/hair (or even gender as a result) would've been a nice option.
