All the teachers kept their eyes on the Slytherin's when it came to smuggling moon dust.
Rarely were we given a second look. The hat couldn't be wrong after all. We were placed in Gryffindor, known for it's honorable and courageous students.
This came with its own pressure, though. For those at the top of the hierarchy, becoming a Prefect meant a world of opportunity. Sue was neck and neck with Armetis in the teacher's eyes. She had pondered over ways to become more efficient, but every avenue had been traveled down. A fire within her was constantly burning brighter than her Patronus. Which many professors compared to Mr. Potter's by the way.
Everything about her had always been so plain growing up. Her parents named her Sue for goodness sake. Living in a trailer in the countryside had forged her need to win. This was all cemented in her personality, and then the letter came those years ago.
Stressed as usual back at Hogwarts she sauntered down the hallway. Just then, she passed a 3rd year from Hufflepuff. The class clown had snorted something white and sparkly off of his finger.
"What was that Edward?"
"Uhh, I just had to um." His eyes were beaming.
"The sparkle, was that moon juice?"
"It's the only thing that keeps me from getting expelled!" He shouted.
"Why is that?"
"Why is what? Don't you know this makes you unstoppable at studying?"
"No, I didn't. Now go back to your hall before I tell on you."
"This is what I need." She thought to herself.
And so it began. Sue, the innocent Gryffindor muggle blood began purchasing moon dust in Diagon Alley. "Just enough to win", she told herself. As the year went on she continually started to blow teachers away with her extreme focus and dedication. They knew she was good, but this was unprecedented. To Artemis's dismay, she was awarded Prefect.
As their last year came to a close and Sue's reign as model student was ending, Artemis finally swallowed his pureblood pride. He walked to her quarters to congratulate her on besting him in their rivalry. As he walked in, she sat there sipping dragonshine with a line of moon dust ready to go.
"What?!" Artemis couldn't believe his eyes.
"No one would ever believe you." She started laughing at his expression.
"Plus, it's not easy being Sue."
