eugenharton: "It will never again become elektro deathmatch, prison island deathmatch, and gangs of guys in military gear looking for a fight."

The problem is all these people want this game to be something it just isn't.

Sounds precisely like what you're doing guy.

people don't want some survival game that involves just killing ai and working with people you don't know.

I think you completely missed the point of what you're responding to at this point. In the mod days, I recall finding a broken car, happening across another player, and a tense strategic mind game playing out from there almost every time this happened. Sure, some people will still KoS because that's how they want to play, but working with someone else, and wondering if or when the moment they decide to fuck you over to take what you have been cooperating to achieve for themselves has always been a pretty critical part of the thrill of Dayz. SA has been lacking this type of feeling since the initial EA release, but things are really beginning to come full circle, returning the game to the concept.

You're acting like the guy you responded to was saying PvP isn't the point, but that's not what he was saying at all. Ensuring your own or your group's survival is absolutely the point, and as the medical system continues to develop, along with the loot economy and implementation of vehicles and dangerous wildlife, survival will become more challenging. All he was implying was that KoS is not the only way to PvP, and that is correct. All PvP shouldn't simply be KoS, and the game also shouldn't be just PvE because that takes away a critical element to survival. It's a lot more interesting, immersive, and entertaining when other players are unpredictable and interact in more ways than just pulling a trigger.

Dayz used to be the highest played game on steam. Now it's not even in the top 10....

This is a good thing. Let the hype die down, and I can assure you, people that aren't playing currently in Early Access will come back and at least see how things turned out in the Beta and actual released full game stages. They all own the game, and really for the past year, too many people have been playing the alpha and expecting the world of it. Things are changing, thus far it all seems for the better, and the changes are finally bringing us in the direction that was intended conceptually from the beginning with the mod and what Rocket wanted Dayz to be in the first place. In the end, the environment, wildlife, zombies, and other players should all be threats to your survival, and that will make this a much better experience than the KoS death match that it has been with how easy it was to get geared up in a small area over the course of the past year.
