Why would any none European country want to get involved in WWI? A bunch of Royalty that couldnt get along isn't great justification for the US get involved in a potentially long and large scale war halfway around the world.

We actively embargoed/blockaded Japan while supplying the Allies.

Japan did NOT have a right to US oil while waging a war of extermination against China. The US has done some fucked up and stupid shit but refusal to sell oil to Japan was unequivocal the correct thing to do.
