European Union Wants All Smartphones To Have A Standard Charging Port

Cleaned, dismantled and cleaned, gave up, re-assembled and took it to a repair shop and they couldn't fix it any better than 'cord must be oriented this way, and even then it's half-ass'. But it still (sort-of) works.

You know, I should get the most outta this three year old, $300 Chromebook thingy. Seems like an utter waste to 'recycle' it as 'e-waste' just because the cord/charging is wonky.

Next time, when this finally dies (probably of no longer being chargeable, not from any other problem at all) I'll shop for one with TWO USB-C connectors. Or some more clever way to charge it.

I really, really loved the magnetic charge cord thingy on that Macbook Air, almost ten years ago (and probably no longer under patent, soon). It was nice to see the cord pop out harmlessly, rather than drag the whole computer off a fucking table, which is what happened to this one. Plus, pulling at that corner perfectly oriented it to LAND on the (still securely connected) cord at the perfect angle and tweak the port. That particular charge cord male plug was bent at a 45 degree angle. Probably all that saved it from ripping the port off the motherboard.
