European views on colonial history.

It’s hard to say Congo was better off with Belgium. I mean, isn’t 10 million enough?

But seriously though, if we (the Dutch) did not have our colonial past we would’ve been toast. We would have little right for excisting other than Belgium. And that’s being a punching bag for England if Germany attacked. And being an annoyance to France. Atleast now we could’ve produced something of relevance as a country.

I don’t know what infrastructure in Indonesia remains from the colonial past, but I know from my friends from Suriname that most of the Dutch infrastructure is the best infrastructure Suriname has today. So yes, I do think Suriname would be better off with us. I will refrain from talking about Indonesia on it because that’s a very heated debate, as I understood correctly even among themselves sometimes.
