Euros, what's going on with your elections?

That’s your own opinion though isn’t it, like it’s not an argument particularly borne out by data or facts . Plus Starmer doesn’t have to be liked by the electorate, he has to be liked more than whoever is leading the conservatives which he currently is.

Newspapers will swing whichever way they think the wind is blowing frankly, if it looks like Starmer will win then they’ll back him.

Can’t be very keen followers of British politics if they haven’t devised the time to come up with an opinion about the leader of the opposition. Do they watch PMQs? Feel like that would be a bare minimum for anyone who’s a ‘keen follower’ of British politics. If they did they’d have an opinion of him.

They lead on the economy for now, they’ve also dropped 18 points on the economy in 18 months while Labour have made gains. They’re also in the middle of a cost of living crisis. When people literally watch the economy die while the Tories are in charge then we’ll see where the polls are. I’d wager they’ll be within 5 points by December.

Plus the Ukrainian bounce which should have catapulted the Tories well into the lead has completely failed to materialise which is very telling.

I’m not saying that the Tories won’t win. I’m saying that this idea that it’s guaranteed, this dogmatic belief that they’re completely unchallengeable, that Labour are doing nothing and are an abject failure isn’t borne out by facts. It’s a dominant narrative that suits the Tories, no one likes to support a loser, that’s why they perpetuate it as much as possible.
