Euthanasia should be illegal (United States)

Good point. By the way, this is for a school project. I'm actually in favor of euthanasia, but I thought that by posting the exact opposite opinion on the Internet, I would get a lot more ideas that would support my project.

Currently, euthanasia is illegal pretty much all over the United States barring a few states like Oregon. What penalties do you think doctors should get for essentially breaking the law and helping people commit suicide in states where it is illegal. One example is Jack Kevorkian. He basically helped his patients commit suicide by giving them the proper resources to commit suicide peacefully. He wasn't actually administering the drug himself nor was he in the same room, which was how he was able to bypass the law. The only reason he was charged for murder was when he administered the drug himself for a patient suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease.

What penalty do you think Jack Kevorkian should've gotten? While his actions may have been heroic, he still broke the law. He was charged with first-degree murder (dropped) and a year later was charged with second-degree murder. Personally, I think doctors who break the law like this should lose their medical license, but Kevorkian had already lost his medical license years before. This is one of the bigger areas of discussion I have for my project.
