Evangelical Converts, Tell your story!

I grew up nondemon Protestant and took a secular class on the New Testament in college--and when I say secular, I mean secular: the professor opened the first day by dropping a Bible on the ground and saying, "If you're Christian, be prepared for this class to potentially challenge your beliefs." The class talked a lot about theories as to how the NT was written (writers drawing from various primary sources) and the early formation of the Church and canon. At that point I thought to myself, whelp, sola scriptura seems a little weaker now. I went to a mass for a school project, started learning about Catholic tradition and early Church writers and history. Then started dating a guy, who I am now married to, who turned out to be Catholic (he claims to have "flirted and converted") me. I knew we were serious when I started RCIA and he refused to sponsor me, because sponsoring a future spouse is basically spiritual incest (he's be my godfather).

Anyway--"asking Jesus into your heart" felt like a copout and too easy. I have devout Protestant family members and of course have hope and faith that they are saved, but too often Protestantism gets to the "being saved" part and then trickles off, theologically, whereas Catholicism treats it as a starting point and an ongoing journey.
