Even if you did have the $$$, isn't it risky to buy a house in today's economy/changing jobs every couple years?

I work for a large chain grocery store in the US that does the same thing for any manager they think is great at opening new stores. Not Walmart but a competitor. If they truly need you in another state, they’ll make it work, even if that includes giving your spouse a job, moving your favorite associates with you, or even paying for a white glove moving company to pack and unpack your things. I’ve seen all this done recently when the company opened one of their biggest grocery stores in a busy city. I lost my direct manager to such a persuasive offer, and he wanted to bring me and my husband with him. We turned him down because it’d be a lateral move in our careers, and we’d be further away from our family.
