Is it even worth me starting to learn?

Honestly, sounds like no. If you don't have a passion for it, you are likely to drop it fast. It takes so long, you need to do it consistantly, you will face times when it feels like you are not making any progress despite learning all the time or despite learning for so long, still feels like you barely understand anything...

I can't really see anyone getting far in learning japanese if they don't really have any interest in it. And because it takes so long, you really have to have some enjoyment for the process itself. The idea of "cant wait to be fluent" or whatever is not gonna give you motivation when you're very tired after a long day and you know you have to get your studies done tonight.

You can try if you want to test the waters and I would also be one more person to encourage that. And if you are able to keep it up, you can definedly get decent enough to live daily life in japanese and enjoy the country a lot more when the language barrier is a lot smaller for a lot of things
