Have you ever faced true reprisal in your Air Force career? What happened and what were the results?

Some of the senior leadership/FGO asked me to do something that was shady and borderline illegal but the AFI was on my side. They didn't want to listen and kept pushing. Since I knew what happened to my predecessor I got IG/ADC involved early and kept MFRs of every conversation and email.

IG basically said "if it's illegal don't do it but we also can't tell you if that's illegal for sure so your call". Cool that was worthless. The leadership then berated me for seeing IG which reinforced to me that it was shady. CC wouldn't see me to discuss either.

After bunch of back and forth I go through since I was not receiving support. Leadership turn it into a opportunity to commend me for holding my ground etc etc. Now I'm being passed over for awards 2x in favor of people doing the same job I did for 2 years, but they're delivering less results. Even when my name was pushed up, I'm seeing from being blind CC that they're casting my name aside. Also pulling me out of events I volunteer for, without my knowledge.

Ironically, MAJCOM told me I made the right call but they didn't respond until it was too late so I couldn't justify it.
