Do you ever use "fan discontinuity" in your writing?

So, I write for something called Trauma Center. In the game Second Opinion (The Wii Port) they change the storyline entirely and eventually you switch docs to operate on the main character. Most people in the fandom use this, as angst fodder because the MC experiencing what his patients go through is angst material.

Except the sequel to THAT particular part of the timeline, introduces a disease that means the MC should've been operated on again but that's ignored blatantly. It's obviously retconned.

Due to this and due to me not liking the plot of Second Opinion all that much, I blatantly ignore it. I just outright pretend it never happened. I just don't LIKE it.
