Do you ever feel like a know-it-all at the stores because of this sub?

I mean, I thought we were vibing, but if you want a girl talk honest answer, aite. It’s all about someone’s approach in how they bring it up. If someone is cool about it, then it’s totally gucci, but there are a LOT of customers who come in and are accusatory towards employees or they shame us for not knowing what’s going down outside of lush in America (we are independent from the UK). There have been many interactions where my customers have shamed me and have- weather or not intentionally, made me feel stupid for not relying on fourms/ outside sources; yo, people have even gotten angry with me for items being out of stock this past year. My job is to learn about/keep up to date with the brand/what it does, understand how and why products work, help people find products that will Marie Kondo make them happy/feel beautiful and comfortable in their skin, and I’m personally here build relationships and friendships with the people who come in- the sales come second (I actually genuinely enjoy it here). That is already more than 90% more than what is expected of the average retail worker and most (obvi I can’t speak for all) people who work here stay because they love the way lush inspires you to care. I want to to rely on the training I receive and the information I am given, because I love this company. I appreciate their overall pedagogy, the way they treat me as a team member and I want to respect their choices in how they run their marketing. There is so much more depth to this store than just it’s products (And also y’all, were in a literal pandemic right now so please remember that even larger more established company’s are struggling at the moment- so chill. It’s soap, it’s not that deep). All I wish for is to give and receive kindness and the same goes for my coworkers that I call my friends. We’re just trying our best to hype up soap and maintain our (my) sanity n self esteem in this hippy town during these shitty times. Shits been rough this past year, having to work in the service industry. I’m sorry if we aren’t on the same page with the juicy deets. This is the reason I don’t keep up to date with social media. Besides, I’m not tryna work outside work, ya know?

So to answer your question no, but I do find this post and some of typed responses quite condescending after how we left things off. No weird harbored feelings at all though. It was still fun talking and hanging out earlier, I’d be down to chat again sometime. And this is coming from me as a fellow human, not as a generalized employee.
