Have you ever gotten back together with an ex? And did things work out?

I don't have a happy ending story, but I do have a story. I dated my first love for a little less than a year, had a messy break up, and we didn't speak for two years. We got back together for a few months, broke up again, were friends with benefits, then didn't speak again for another two years.

There were reasons we broke up that first love goggles wouldn't let me accept. I figured since it had been so much time that things would be better, and they were, but only for a little while. I'm glad it didn't work out, but it was hard to walk away. I moved on fairly easily, but he was stuck on me for THREE YEARS. Only recently did he finally get a girlfriend and stop pining after me. It takes a lot to know a relationship wasn't good for you, and he couldn't see that. I could have easily gotten back together with him, but I didn't for my own sanity.

I don't know your situation, but if you think it was for the best, don't listen to anyone else. That being said, there are plenty of people I know that got back together with an ex and are now married with kids. It depends on the situation, really.
