Have you ever had to break up with someone even though you both still loved each other?

My last ex and I broke up even though we still loved each other because of different goals in life that weren't compatible with each other. He wanted kids by his late 20s, and was happy staying in our home city for the rest of his life. I want to live in different cities, have a life beyond our hometown and I don't want to have kids until I'm at least 30, so we broke up.

Life has been fine for me. I'm still single, but I'm not sad about it but I have been focused on my career lately, and I'm moving across to the other side of the world to the UK in a few months, which I'm very excited about. I'll probably pick up dating again over there.

As for him, we don't really talk anymore because we went no contact after the breakup to get over each other faster. We still have each other on Instagram though, and he has a new girlfriend who he has been dating for a year now. He's in med school now, and he seems happy with his life too. I'm happy for him.
