Have you ever had a coworker that was lazy and uninterested?

The last person I terminated. He was lazy, unreliable, and couldn't even be bothered to think for himself while on post. Guy would call me at 11:30 pm asking me where his relief was when they don't come in for another half hour.

His last shift he came in late after I warned him not to and he couldn't provide me with a legitimate reason. He took the master keys home with him and when I came back in the morning I noticed it was gone. I called him on my cell and my number was blocked (said user wasn't receiving calls). Called on the office phone and it rang several times and he picked up but immediately hung up. That's when I became concerned and contacted management. They tried to contact him but no one could get into contact with this guy. We started to think this guy just ran off with the master keys just because he was already on his final warning so my manager sent an email saying to return the keys immediately or we will contact local and state police. Guy comes in 3 minutes before his shift starts saying he wasn't aware of what's happening. I informed him if he did not return the master keys within the hour I would have to call the authorities. He claims he did nothing wrong and says he's going to take his time well over the time limit instructed by management. I reinforced the fact that he had 50 minutes or I will contact them.

Fast forward 48 minutes later, he returns the keys and I inform him he is suspended and the company will be conducting an investigation. He says he did nothing wrong and he made a mistake. Well turns out his story of his phone having issues is false because he was using his cell to make a personal call for 1.5 hours the other night. Guy also used the office phone like 8 times to call a bunch of out of state locations many of these numbers led to craigslist ads when I googled them. He even left post early without a relief.

This guy said he wanted to speak to an attorney to sue the place and started giving me a sob story about he needed this job to pay child support. I would feel bad but the cameras clearly showed he didn't give two shits, branch management was notified, I had to inform the client, and it was my last week before getting promoted to a new site.
