Have you ever quit a job, without another lined up, for you mental health? How did it turn out?

I was 18. First job, IT guy - which I still am. So was still at school.

Decided to leave on my birthday. Showed up and told my boss "hi. This is my last day. One way or another, I'll pack this afternoon and never come back". This guy knew why and also knew he had no chance to make me change my opinion on him and the shitty position he wanted to put me in.

Turned out it was on of the best decision of my life. Having nothing lets you think of all possibles. Danger calls your inner survival reflexes and can get the best out of you - at least in my case.

Friends of mine did this too, later. It putted them in a very bad situation, with pressure and fear of getting homeless. Now they're afraid of loosing a job as hell. What works for one may not work for another person, I guess.
