Have you ever “skipped” a holiday because you couldn’t afford it?

Look on the FB buy nothing or free sites for decorations. Many people give away trees if they are getting a new one, especially the pre-lot ones if parts of the lights have gone out. Then you just have to buy a string of lights.

Can you register with a food bank? They all give out a thanksgiving meals. The Girl Scout troops that I work with donate a hundred meal boxes every year and our middle school had a drive through for people to drop off donated turkeys. Churches, senior centers and homeless shelters usually feed people meals. The whole community usually comes together to make sure people get a holiday meal.

I agree that the places offering entire cooked meals are too pricey, but the grocery store if selling turkeys as low as .77/lb. here, and a 10lb bag of potatoes for .99, add some veggies and you have a good many meals from that.
