Honestly, this guide is really bad.

Royal Giant- Wait for the royal giant to be in range and then play your Inferno tower, this is a small positive elixer trade but you have to be careful to make sure youp play the inferno fast enough to pull the royal giants attention.

Once they realize you have an inferno, all they have to do is place a swarm of troops ahead of the royal giant (barbarians, minion horde, goblins, skeletons, witch) to distract the inferno. Also, if they have support troops such as a wizard behind the royal giant, them together will kill the inferno faster than it can kill the RG.

P.E.K.K.A- To counter the pekka an inferno tower makes for a good positive elixer trade and will kill the pekka before it reaches the inferno allowing for you to keep it for extra defence.

If your opponent is stupid enough to drop a lone pekka, you can easily distract it with skeletons+goblins, goblins+spear goblins, skeletons+spear goblins, skeletons+musketeer doing damage behind, etc. You don't need an inferno. Also, this will not work for Pekka+DP, and will fail badly if the opponent has a freeze.

Fire Spirits- Allow the arena tower to take them out.

Nobody drops them alone. They drop them as support (e.g. behind a Royal Giant, behind a push, or behind a Hog Rider.) Better tip is to either use a princess to take them out from a distance, or zap them + their support troops.

Wizard- The knight is a great counter for the wizard, making a positive elixer trade and not allowing the wizards splash ability to be effective.

Not just the knight. Valkyrie, barbarians if you surround him right, skeletons if you surround him right, goblins if you surround him right. If you can't surround wait for a lone wizard to lock on to your tower, then deploy skeletons/goblins to finish him off.

Giant- To counter the giant, you can rarely make a positive elixer trade, an inferno tower will definitely kill the giant, for an even trade. A cannon and goblins will also kill the giant well but is again an even elixer trade.

The point when countering a giant is to spend lots of elixir, then use your defense troops for a very strong push. So, do not fear about using 6+ elixir to defend a giant as long as you have a really strong counter push.

Lava Hound- The lava hound is very easy to take out as he does very little damage allowing him to target your tower and then using spear goblins or a musketeer on him will quickly take him down.

Unless that's their first time using the lava hound, nobody, not even an idiot, will drop it alone.

Ice Wizard- To kill the ice wizard, cannon is great as it stops him freezing your arena tower and will do good damage to him quickly.

Nobody will drop a lone ice wizard, unless they have to cycle cards and it's their only choice. It's a support troop for a reason.

Hog Rider- To counter the hog, you can place a cannon, place it in the middle of your side of the arena, this will do damage to the hog, whilst drawing it over to the "Death Zone" where both of your towers will be shooting at the tog, this will kill the hog for 3 elixer, giving you a positive elixer trade and no tower damage.

Not if they have literally any support with the hog rider.
