Have you every experienced a case of mistaken identity and what was that story?

So I just experienced this myself. I've been getting calls from this work place out-of-state. Although I was a little hesitant because of it being out of state, I wanted to see why they've been calling me. They've been calling me because they wanted me to answer question about lease accounting in this one workplace. I replied that there's been a mistake and that I'm unemployed. So they just apologized for wasting my time. As it turns out, after searching my name, there happens to be a CPA with my name that live in that out-of-state place. I believe this is the person they were trying to contact (FYI I am also in the accounting field so that's why I picked it up initially as well because maybe this would lead into a job offer)

I'm potentially aware, thanks to a friend of mine who I recounted this story too, that this might be a phishing scam and I'm not really eliminating that as possibility but if something happens to me I'll probably put this in r/tifu.
